Recently, while doom-scrolling on Instagram, I stumbled upon an excerpt from a podcast discussing excellence and productivity. The speaker shared a favorite quote from a short film, by Charles Mackesy "The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse."
The quote is from a part of the graphic novel where they find themselves in a dark forest during a storm. It goes like this: “I can't see a way through," said the boy. "Can you see your next step?" "Yes. Just take that," said the horse.
"When life becomes overwhelming, as it often does for me, I tell myself: If I can see the next step, which I most always can, then that's the one I'll take."
After taking the inspiration to heart from this excerpt, I decided to watch this literary graphic novel pieced together with a message as wholesome as one could dream up.
I wanted to share a few more of my favorite quotes / lines from the short film.
1. “What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"Kind," said the boy.
2. “Is your glass half empty or half full?" asked the mole.
"I think I'm grateful to have a glass," said the boy.”
3. “We have such a long way to go," sighed the boy
"Yes, but look how far we've come," said the horse”
4. “Home isn’t always a place is it?”
5. “I am truly tiny' said the mole
'The love inside you,' said the boy 'is as big as the universe.”
6. “This is easily my favourite place' said the mole
'Why?' asked the boy
'Because you are all here,”
7. “What's the bravest thing you've ever said?" asked the boy.
"Help," said the horse.”
Until next time...
